Viaduct Over the Alberche River

In this paper the design of the supports of the Viaduct over the Alberche river is undertaken, using the method proposed by the FIP Recommendations 1996 (FIP96) [1]. The solution, thus obtained, is then compared with two non-linear analysis, taking into account non-linear material behaviour, as well as non-linearity due to changes in geometry, with different degrees of simplification. Design and Construction of a Light Roof

The structure is located inside an aquatic park existing in Tenerife (Spain). The roof had to cover a grandstand for a dolphin show. There was a concrete structure with several columns initially designed to support a cantilever conventional roof. The structure had to cover an area of 3000 m2 with a free cantilever of 15.0 m. The general condition given by the client was to maintain the activity of the park while the work was done. A light membrane structure was selected to avoid cranes during erection. Vinalop├│ River Bridge. Elche (Spain)

The Vinalop├│ bridge is the result of a design competition which sought to provide a new landmark for the city of Elche. One of the initial tasks was to deal with the traffic requirements of the local urban environment. It was necessary to build a roundabout on one side of the river in order to solve the traffic problems created by the junction of different avenues. The Widening of Los Santos Bridge

In this paper the main features of the Construction project of the widening of Los Santos Bridge are discussed. The project involves the widening of a major 600 m long bridge with spans of 150 meters increasing the width of the deck from 12.00 to 24.00 meters, without recurring to an independent structure. The project is based on the idea of providing minimum strengthening of the existing structure. This approach has allowed very important savings but has also required a challenging design project some aspects of which are discussed in this paper. (To continue reading, download .pdf)
