UIC WORKSHOP AT MADRID ON ASSESSMENT OF MASONRY ARCH BRIDGES

06/2018

The International Union of Railways (UIC) has organized a workshop to present the latest edition of its publication "Recommendations for inspection, analysis and maintenance of masonry arch bridges". The workshop is to be held next June 7 and 8 at Fundación de los Ferrocariles Españoles (FFE) in Madrid.
European railway lines assets include more than 200,000 masonry arch bridges, approximately 50% of their bridge stock. Actual codes mainly focus on new construction works. The UIC leaflet 778-3 intends to provide railway infrastructure owners, maintenance managers, bridge inspectors and consulting engineers with guidance on the inspection, assessment and maintenance of masonry arch bridges.
FHECOR will participate in the workshop showing its most recent practices in maintenance and repair of masonry arch bridges.
