The María de Molina Tunnel, one of the star projects

11/2004

Yesterday, the Urbanism, Architecture and Public Works 2003 Prizes were awarded. The Homes from the Municipal Housing Department (EMV0) in Rafael Final Street, The reformation of the BBVA Headquarters in Alcala Street, The locale ‘Calle 54’ and the Maria de Molina Tunnel are but some of the projects which were awarded yesterday in the Urbanism, Architecture and Public Works 2003 Prizes which is held every year by the Town hall.

In this event, which brought together a number of architects, some of which had come from the funeral of Fernando Chueca Goitia, saw Ruiz-Gallardón hand over 11 prizes and offer 16 special mentions to other projects. However, 11 other prizes were not awarded as projects had not been presented or proposed. Finally, the prize granted to the Maria de Molina Tunnel fulfills, according to Gallardon “the mobility strategy needed to reduce traffic in conflictive areas which at the same time creates infrastructures and transportation”.
