The President of the Community of Madrid, Esperanza Aguirre, inaugurated this Tuesday, the Islazul Shopping Center, between the Cemetery and the PAU in Carabanchel next to the M-40 ring-road.
The leisure center shall open its doors this Wednesday along with its 180 diverse outlets which are distributed over a gross rentable surface area of 90,000m2. There are also cinemas and several restaurants.
The Shopping Center also has a car park which can accommodate 4,100 vehicles. Islazul has been promoted by the Lar and Ivanhoe Cambridge Group, and has counted on an investment of €260 million.
The mainstays of this new shopping center are a large 15,000m2 Eroski hypermarket and the clothing stores Primark, Sportzone, Zara, C&A, H&M, Sfera, Cortefiel, Pull and Bear, Mango, Springfield, Mothercare, Women’s Secret, Prenatal, Tintoretto. There are also outlets destined to the home such as Saturn, Menaje del Hogar and Zara Home.
Regarding leisure activities, Yelmo Cineplex will open a 12 screen cinema complex plus an additional multifunctional room equipped with second generation multimedia Cinegames.
The public will have access to several videogame stores and an area called Neverland, dedicated to children’s entertainment that shall be located next to the cinemas and an Imaginarium store.
There will be around 20 restaurants where clients may choose between a wide offer from establishments such as Vips, Burger King, Fosters Hollywood, Cañas y Tapas, Ribs, 100 Montaditos, Pans and Company, Rodilla, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Flunch, Il Tempietto, have a coffee at Jamaica or Starbucks or enjoy an ice-cream at Hagen Dazs.
GIFTS FOR THE FIRST 3,000 VISITORS
The opening to the public shall take place at ten in the morning and to celebrate this fact the first 3,000 visitors shall receive a gift. There will be music and entertainment for all, especially for the children in the central Islazul square. There will be a competition for visitors to get to know the center better with diverse prizes to be awarded.
At twelve O’clock the countdown shall begin to mark the official start up of the center. Outside you will be able to surf in a specially prepared swimming pool and contemplate a sand-castle and sand-sculpture exhibition. Prizes shall also be awarded to the winners of those videos which were presented through the website www.islaalavista.com.
