Enlargement of the airport in Zaragoza

On plan, the building is of 180 m x 60 m. It consists of a full-size basement and ground floor and one first floor of 45 x 20 m.

It has a wall of piles of Ø450 every 0.90 m with provisional anchors during excavation and prior completion of slabs.

Its foundation is direct by means of pile-caps with an admissible pressure of 2.0 kp/cm².

The slab of the ground floor consists of a HA-25 reinforced concrete slab of 0.30 m depth and typical spans for HA-25.

The slab of the first floor is composed of a light pre-stressed concrete slab (by means of recoverable boxes) in both directions in order to reach spans of 15.00 x 15.00 m.

Its wave-shaped steel roofs are composed of 15 metre wide frames supported by tree-shaped columns. Each frame gives way to different waves which cross each other generating spaces of light among them.

Its columns are made of HA-25 reinforced concrete in the basement and of circular steel in the upper floors in order to hold the steel roof.

The building corresponds FHECOR Consulting Engineers’ philosophy and has therefore been built without any dilatation joint.

The facades of the building consist of steel ribs of heights between 7 and 10 metres.
